Township Honors
Brown & Scipione

Winslow Heroes Served In Iraq

On Saturday, April 12, the residents of Winslow Township celebrated the return of two of its Hometown Heroes following their tour of duty in Iraq.

Present was Sgt. Donald Brown who received a proclamation from Winslow Mayor Sue Metzner.  Unable to attend the ceremony was Lance Corporal Randy Scipione due to being on duty at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in NC.  Accepting his proclamation was his mother, Terri Staglliano

The day's events began with a parade to Stella Maiese Park which featured the Winslow Township High School Band and JROTC unit with its color guard.  Upon entering the park, the parade passed through a giant arch constructed of two ladder trucks from the Winslow Township Fire Department.  A huge American Flag hung from the top of the arch.

Following the ceremony which preceded the opening of the 2008 Little League schedule in the township, it was announced that the 2008 season would be dedicated to the memory of Dominique Dezii who played in the township for several years.
